Process of

Manufacturing

The reinforced cage is first prepared on the cage-winding machine by hand process. The cage is then placed inside the pipe mould which is then hoisted up and mounted horizontally on the turn unions. It is rotated by driving shaft with variable speed arrangement, the rotation is kept slow in the beginning and then the speed is increased.

The concrete mixture for the RCC spun pipe is prepared in proportion of 1:2:5:2:5 of cement stone, metal and sand respectively. The cement concrete is fed into the moulds during rotation which spreads inside evenly. The time required for completion of this operation depends upon the diameter and class of the pipe. The pipes are kept in the mould for 24 hours.

On the following day the pipes are removed from the moulds and submersed in water in the curing tank for about 10 days depending upon the class of the pipe. The specimen of the pipes are subject to the following tests Hydrostatic pressure test

Bearing test

Three edge bearing test is a destructive load test to determine the strength of a concrete pipe. Strength is main characteristic of concrete Hume pipes. Durability and strength both are measured with Three Edge Bearing Test. (code reference: IS 458:2001)

Pressure Test

This test is conducted by applying water pressure from a pump to the pipe covered on all sides to find how much pressure the pipe withstands before it leaks.

The pipe quality is approved if the tested pressure is compatible with the ISI specifications. (code reference :IS 458:2001)

Test for

Permeability

Cement will mix with more water than is required to eventually combine during hydration of cement paste. As such, some voids will be left behind after the hydration process which affects the strength and durability of concrete. With the presence of air voids in concrete, it is vulnerable to penetration and attack by aggressive chemicals.

Good quality concrete is characterized by having minimal voids left by excess water and therefore, water absorption test for precast concrete pipes is adopted for checking the quality of concrete in terms of density and imperviousness. (code reference: IS 458:2003)

Materials & its Genuinity

CEMENT: We use various brands of cement in OPC 53 grade like Sagar cement, UltraTech cement, KCP cement for production of material at our factory out of which we chose Sagar cement as our primary source for cement. Sagar Cement is extremely easy to work with and consistently produces excellent results. SAND: River Sand that we used is from River Beds and Banks. It is usually very fine in quality and has a white-grey colour. River Sand is good for all construction activities like concrete production and plastering as it is well graded. As per the Indian Standard codes, sand used inpreparation of concrete and in plastering should ideally confirm to IS-383 Zone-II.

AGGREGATES: We use aggregates in size 10mm, 1 2mm and 20mm in our production ranging from diameter 150mm to 2000mm are procured from reliable vendor within our surrounding area.

STEEL: We use different gauges of mild steel wire ranging from 4mm to 14mm gauge as a spiral cage in reinforcement as per IS 458:2003 standards and also longitudinal rods in diameter ranging from 4mm to 12mm rods.

We are manufacturing right from 150mm dia to 2200mm dia., of all classes NP2, NP3, NP4, P1, P2 and P3. At present we are supplying exclusively to ALL N.H.A.I projects mainly catering in green field expressways like Bengaluru – chennai expressway, Bengaluru – vijayawada expressway, and khammam – devarapalli expressways from our Karnataka, tirupati, and Vijayawada plant locations.

We have also supplied 1600 mm dia pipes to Bangalore international Airport. Reinforcement CAGE Weighing & Checking: We ensure the amount of steel applied for each diameter shall be in accordance with IS 458-2003 standards. To ensure genuinity of steel, we provide a steel certificate from the source of supplier to the customer.

Raw Material Inspection: Raw materials such as cement, steel, stone blast and sand are procured from established vendors. The raw materials inspected on arrival at our factory site. The materials are sent directly to
manufacturer and unit only after approval of quality controllers. In Process Quality Control: The manufacturing is done under the strict supervision of rich experienced personnel.


Final Testing: We conduct rigorous testing for every batch of products at random, to ensure that the entire batch complies with B.I.S standards. Various tests conducted at our facility as mentioned above for precise assessment of our RCC Pipes. We ensure the amount of steel applied for each diameter shall be in accordance with IS 458-2003 standards.
